Driving traffic to your web sites is an art in itself and the key to Internet Success. If I were an expert in this area I would be rich.
Let’s check again.
Am I rich?
Well, I did have enough money to buy my wife a burrito and drive her to the park to eat it. I also bought her a snow cone, peach flavored.
Not only that, I bought an extra memory card for my camera.
I also bought five cases of products from my grocer.
I guess that is not Hawaii.
I guess I’m not rich. What teacher is?
If you have no or little traffic, you have no business. That is why I’m not rich.
You need a site that search engines like.
That means it has useful content. If a search engine spider checks your site and sees your description and keywords and compares them with the content in your site, the content had better be comprehensive and accurate. If a keyword from a patron search sends that patron to your site, the search engine will be checking to see if that person is really getting what he or she is asking for.
If your content does not match your keywords or the keyword entered during a search, the “Great Foot” of a search engines will push your site down into the Internet mud. Your site will not come up on the first page of a search. You will be on page 62-if you are lucky.
Don’t think that the above does not apply when you are buying keywords. That is you are paying for each click on a key word. This is called Pay-Per-Click, or in the vernacular of those who buy such words, PPC. The search engines STILL want the patron to find meaningful information on your site. If it not there, they will punish you severely. You will be paying too much per click.
I’m not kidding.
Nobody wants to use a search engine that does not deliver what you are looking for.
For the above reasons, you must have relevant content on your site.
You can write that content or you can import articles from the article sites that pertain to your niche market. But you will have to spend some time doing research, finding the “good stuff” that people want to read.
Make sure you find the best keywords for your site and place them in the meta file. Make sure you have an accurate description too. You can use the programs listed in Step 2. Some spiders skip the meta files and dive right into the content. It had better be there.
Do you know that a good content site can bring in significant income without listing any products or services for sale? Have you heard of Google AdSense®? Have you seen those horizontal or vertical boxes full of ads along the edges, of web pages? Well, they generate income. I checked my Google the other day. I have some cash sitting there. I do need a haircut.
You can get some of those ads on your site by going to Google AdSense site. There are alternatives to AdSense®. Search for the “top ten AdSense competitors.”
Article Writing
I write for EzineArticles.com and I have written for several other sites that provide articles to Internet searchers and to webmasters. I guess you already knew that since you are reading this article. You are there, aren’t you?
At bottom of the article there is a resource box. In the article, I must “give.” In the research box, I might get a little something back if a buyer goes to one of my sites and actually buys something.
The main thing about article writing is that articles are loved by search engines. I write an article and it pops right to the top of search pages. That is if I have keywords in the title, the keyword box, and in the article. Webmasters can copy these articles as long as they don’t change anything including my resource boxes.
I would tell you that if you put the person’s who wrote this articles name in a search box, you would see how powerful article writing can be. But I’m not allowed to tell you that. It would be aggrandizing.
When I write an article, I tell everybody who reads my blog at BlogSpot. I think that is about six people, I have no way to be sure. I also ping my blog at Pingomatic. That probably brings in seven more.
You can ping more than once if you wait between pings.
PING!
What I’m trying to say, Pilgrim, is that article writing is “big stuff” if you are so inclined to do it. You will have to put up with editors, guidelines, and the unknown, but that is true of any kind of writing.
Writers write, right?
PPC
Most Internet marketers use PPC. The ones who know what they are doing, make money doing it. If you see an ad month after month on Yahoo or Google, the guy is making money.
You can lose your shirt with pay-per-click search engines.
That includes Google AdWords®.
You need some instruction before you pay for clicks. There is plenty of free information on the Internet if you search for it. There are paid systems too. Most claim to bring tons of traffic to your site without spending money for it.
If you are considering a program, why not go on the net and look for the pros and cons before you buy it? Most all information of this type is free on the Internet if you dig deep enough.
At Wealthy Associates University, article writing and PPC are the main traffic generators recommended for beginners and professionals alike. Much of the instruction is geared to those two areas. If you are serious, get serious in these two areas.
If you go to Google and Yahoo, perhaps skipping the other PPC to start, talk with their customer service people. Most are very knowledgeable and will be glad to help you with your campaigns. I know these are huge companies, but they do have people like you (and probably not like me) working there.
Linking to other sites can be helpful. That is one reason why article writing pays off. Your URL is on each article and anyone can follow it to your site. If your URL is on lots of sites, that will make the search engines very happy. They will put air in those basketball shoes of yours.
Self promotion will bring folks to your site no matter how you do it. Newspapers have interviewed me at times. I’ve been on the radio (no, not sitting, speaking). I use print advertising to bring people to my web sites. In fact I have a large budget of $1.00 / week for ads in my local newspapers. I send people to my flagpole site that way. Well, three people have gone there that I know of.
Now, if you think my editors are going to let me get away with the above paragraph, you’re crazy.
What, they did?
WA give you what you need to perform the task of getting traffic. That is what I use.
There will be more about generating traffic in the next Step.
